Ok, so I lied in my last post. I am cooking dinner for tonight. It has been windy and cold so it is soup weather. It will be warmer this week, so today is soup day. I have hamburger soup going in the crock-pot. I’ll add the frozen mixed veggies closer to tonight and we’ll be ready to eat. If I get really ambitious this afternoon, I’ll head out and try to find more pants for Warren. While out, I might pick up some crescent rolls or other dinner rolls to pop in the oven. I think Laura should be able to eat the soup too, if I make her serving fairly thick.
I used to worry about staying home all the time. I worried about how I would handle the days. I am quickly seeing that they go by quickly. Laura is always keeping me entertained. When they are both napping I either nap, work on things around the house, or watch some of my tv. Usually it’s the last option. :) During the day while Laura is up, I should start doing crafts with her. I’ve started bookmarking the sites Abbie posts, so I have plenty of ideas. I just need to get supplies and start. We’ve made some sticker art, so I think Laura would be ready for some other art/craft projects.
Time to get off of here for a bit.

Care to share the hamburger soup recipe?? It sounds good and maybe even my kids would try it.

Here is the long version (stove top):
Brown 1 lb. hamburger with 1 onion (diced) and 2-3 ribs celery (sliced). Add 2-3 carrots (sliced) with water to just cover. Cooke 5 minutes. Add 3-4 potatoes (cubed); cook 10-15 minutes – potatoes should still be firm. Add 1 lb bag frozen mixed vegetables, 4-5 beef bouillon cubes (crushed), one can stewed tomatoes (cut up), 3 cans of water, 1/2 – 3/4 cup ketchup (to taste), and 1-2 tablespoons brown sugar. Let simmer until vegetables are cooked.
Short version: Brown hamburger. Combine all ingredients in crock-pot except for frozen mixed veggies. Add those about 20 minutes before serving. I’m letting mine simmer all day long to let the flavors combine.
