It’s been a while, so I thought I’d so a bit of an update. Things with the pregnancy are going ok. The contractions have stopped, but I am still limiting myself on what I can do. Now that the warm weather is here, my feet are swelling up a lot more. I need to watch how much salt I eat. Most nights now I feel like my feet are on fire and the skin is so tight from the swelling. I am drinking lots of water, but a woman has her limits! So for the most part, the pregnancy is uneventful at this point.
Laura had her 2 year appointment yesterday. She is 33 inches tall and weighs 31.5 pounds. She is so big! The doctor was pleased with her progress and achieving milestones. Neither of us are worried about the gross motor skills right now. She’ll probably catch up this summer a little bit more. As he said, it’s hard to develop gross motor in the winter when you are all bundled up. Today Laura gets to go to the dentist for the first time. Nothing is wrong. Just doing the first check up and getting her used to the idea of it all.
Later this afternoon I am hanging out with my girls. We’re going to go see The Proposal (since I can’t get Robert to see it with me), and grill out. It’s going to be so nice to just get away for a little bit. I’m going to push Robert to do the same thing (well, maybe not exactly the same thing since he doesn’t want to see The Proposal) with a friend next week.
Speaking of next week, Laura and I are going to head down to Mom’s for a while. We’ll leave on Tuesday after my appointment and then come home on Sunday. Original plan was to come home Friday, but Robert indicated he wouldn’t mind just a nice lazy weekend. Plus being downt here I’ll be getting a ton of help with Laura during the day so I’ll be truly resting. Getting help from Mom is different than getting help from a babysitter or someone else coming into my home. I know the doctor said to get help with Laura, but my pride keeps getting in the way. Why pay someone to take care of her while I am home and mostly able to? I have limited how much I pick her up. I have even started doing a lot of diaper changes on the floor just so I’m not picking her up to the changing table.
Not much else to report right now. Just taking everything one day at a time. Life gets too overwhelming if I do much more than that.
