Last night Liz and I talked and decided that exercise and being in better shape would be good. With this in mind, we went out and procured an exercise DVD after work today, along with some weights and a pair of pedometers (‘cuz I’m curious just how much walking I do some days). After we had dinner (homemade lasagna) in the oven, we decided to try out the video. Robert was reminded of just how horribly coordinated he is (which is why he doesn’t dance either). You know those videos of guys who are always at least one or two steps behind the aerobics instructor? Yeah … that’s me. I’d be perfectly safe if somebody was shooting a gun to make me dance because eventually they’d fall over laughing and I could tackle them.
Anyway, work was fairly uneventful today. Had a nice 2 hr meeting about a database named CHAOS. Encouraging name, eh? It’s an acronym for Computer Hardware And Other Stuff. I got roped into it because I do a lot of computer inventory management. The afternoon was also not so exciting. I did get to make a few office calls though.
Okay, if it hadn’t been for that fun strip club quiz, this would be my first post of the new year. I’d post about what I’ve been up to for the past month, but that will have to wait until I’m less inclined to go to bed than to sit at my computer. I just want to thank beldurnik and czar_sonja for a fun evening “on the town” at Lucé’s. Alchoholic beverages and pizza were had (not alchoholic pizza … Hawaiian pizza). We then went back to their apartment to watch some CSI on Rich’s mythtv box … but it wasn’t cooperating very well. We also got to meet Henrietta tonight.
Well, I think it’s bedtime for me. Church should be good tomorrow. At some point tomorrow I will probably be trekking over to the vicinity of the Mall to test-drive a vehicle for my parents. Would have done it this afternoon except the dude didn’t call me back until I was pondering what beverage I wanted to drink (I decided on hardcore cider btw … thanks go to Rich for introducing me to cider a long while back). So I will call him tomorrow and see if he’s more inclined to nail down a time to meet.
I upgraded trinity to FreeBSD 5.3 today. It went fairly smoothly. They did some serious changes to bind so that was a bit stressful to resolve but not exactly hard. I was really worried about having problems getting mail going again, but that actually went very smoothly. Bedtime for this bunny now.
How crazy is this … I’m currently listening to Roger Whittaker (Christmas with) … I was listening to Burl Ives (Holly Jolly Christmas) earlier. Ah … fond memories of listening to this by firelight.

I never met Shane O’Donnell, but today I attended memorial/funeral services for him. Even though I didn’t know him, it was a very moving experience. It is clear to me that this man touched the hearts and lives of hundreds. On 8 Nov 2004 … he died serving our country in Iraq. He died fighting for what he believed in.
There were 1200-1500 people gathered today to honor his life. I came down here this weekend to support those who needed support. A shoulder to cry on. A hand to hold. Some arms to hold another together. After all, I’m an outsider, right? I’m just a rock to hold onto and help others to weather this storm. Well, today, in the end, I cried and mourned the death of a man I had hardly heard of prior to 8 Nov 2004. I hope my presence today helped his family and others who loved him. I have more thoughts, but they refuse to be coherent. I guess that makes sense. Today was a crazy storm of emotions.
To the idiot who installed the water heater that’s in my house … wtf were you thinking when you didn’t put a water shut-off valve “upstream” of the water heater. The only way to cut off water supply to it is to shut off water to entire house. Why is this relevant? My water heater is dead and leaking.
