… for posting this late.
I did a housecall tonight and didn’t get home until about 10:20. At that point, I needed to shovel the driveway, so I did that and then put the truck in the garage. When I came in of course I had to install the RAM that I had gotten for the G5 to bump it up to 1G. This took two attempts because on the first try I forgot to put the two cpu cooling fans back in (btw, for those who don’t know … this thing has 9 fans). I discovered the mistake when I turned it on and there were bright glowing red lights and the fans that were in the case were going louder than normal. Anyway, it’s now installed and back together and working beautifully.
At this point, I was a little wired. I still am somewhat actually, which is why I’m writing this post … I need to calm down. I need to think calming thoughts. This music isn’t helping, so I should probably just head to bed and lay and stare at the ceiling.
P.S. I got yelled at before I had a chance to post!
NINE fans?!?!?! If you set them to all point down, I’ll bet the computer would hover!!!
How noisy is it?
Re: fans
Actually, the point of having 9 fans is so that it’s not noisy. They all run at low speed so it’s considerably quieter than my PC that has 3 fans. When it’s working hard then the fans become a little more noticeable, but not loud. When I first got it for whatever reason some reboots caused the fans to crank up to full speed … which is pretty stinkin’ loud (not as loud as a vacuum cleaner, but I think as loud as a 20″ box fan on medium or similar).
