I love the bedtime routine with Laura.  I get her tucked into bed.  Then together we do the Lord’s Prayer.  Following that is blessings.  I just let her take the lead there.  It always starts out, “Mommy, and Daddy, Warren, and me.  Grandma, Papa, Grandma Joni, Grandma Kathy, Grandpa John.”  From there, different people get added in.  On nights that she is tired, she will add one person then repeat the grandparents.  Other nights we go through all of the aunts, uncles, and cousins and then add in the kids at daycare and Helen’s family. After prayers and blessings, we have three things that are always said:

  1. Goodnight
  2. Sweet Dreams
  3. I love you

I admit that I don’t always take the time that I should with our bedtime routine.  There are nights that I am tired or frustrated with her that I just want to make it go as fast as possible.  When I don’t do the routine with her, things just feel off.  I really enjoy it when we talk about her day together a little bit or what is coming up the next day.
