Update Time

I’s been a while since I’ve actually done an update, so I figured it was time to do one.  Things around the house are going ok.  Laura must be in a growth spurt.  For lunch she ate a large floret of broccoli without anything on it (cheese or salt).  She actually ate it before her fishsticks!  When Robert got home from work I took Laura shopping with me.  We needed some household basics and groceries.  She did really well.  She did get hungry while shopping, but that’s understandable considering it was after 5:30.  Poor Robert was left home with Warren who cried most of the time.

The family Christmas last weekend went really well, with the exception of John not feeling 100%.  I think everyone was happy with what they got.  Monday was a challenging day.  Robert was supposed to be up early to assist in finishing a project at work.  The project hit snags along the way and was behind schedule.  We weren’t entirely sure how badly behind schedule, so we went ahead and packed as much as we could.  Laura eventually went down for a nap since we weren’t sure how long we were staying.  Fast forward a bit more, she is up from her nap and Robert is still waiting on work.  He was finally cleared to leave at 4:30.  Since we had been delayed since packing most of the stuff, it took a bit to get it all packed and into the car.  The car was VERY full.  The entire cargo area of the Outback was stuffed full.  The kids had bags on the floor in front of their seats.  Fortunately, I didn’t have to hold anything on my lap.  :)  We get on the road around 5:15 to come back home.  Only once before had we tried driving this late in the day.  It was disasterous that time.  I wasn’t too optimistic about the drive and actually getting home (Laura being wired).  I was pleasantly surprised.  We made it to Black River Falls (half way point) before stopping for dinner.  Once we were back on the road, Warren wasn’t too happy.  He screamed for about 15 minutes.  We were going to stop in Osseo if he didn’t stop before the exit.  It quit crying about 3 miles before.  Both kids snoozed the rest of the way home.  As we drove on Hwy T towards Hammond, I started to question why we moved further from the interstate.  We pulled into the garage at 9:50.  We immediately brought the kids inside to get them in bed.  Thankfully Laura didn’t get excited and went right down.  Warren went down right away too.

This week I’ve been trying to just keep it quiet during the days.  I haven’t had much structure.  I haven’t even left the house with the kids since it seems like either one is napping or one is not happy.  Just isn’t worth trying to haul them out.  Next week and the week after I am working at Textbook Services again.  To be honest, I am not really looking forward to it.  I will be glad to get out of the house, but I’m not looking forward to trying to get 2 kids ready on top of myself in the morning.  I know Laura will be fine, but Warren can be difficult.

I have started a little bit of potty training with Laura again.  I had her sitting on the potty today.  She still hasn’t actually gone in it yet.  While shopping tonight, I bought her Dora undies.  I told her she can wear them when she goes in the potty.  She is really excited about them, so I’m hoping that will provide enough motivation for her to try.  We’ll see how tomorrow goes.  I need to get my license renewed before my birthday (next week).  The current plan is for me to drive to River Falls with the kids, then Robert will bring them home.  I’ll take his car up to Hudson to take care of the license.  I know that she will need to be in a diaper for that.

I am so glad that Robert and I have the type of relationship that we do.  I can go and do my thing with my girls whenever (assuming he can take the kids).  I have told him repeatedly to just make a date with a friend and let me know when it is.  I don’t have to ask for his permission to do things, and same goes for him.  I don’t want to say much more on here since I don’t know exactly who reads and I don’t want to say anything that could cause trouble.

Well, it is 9:30.  I need to wrap this up so I can start getting ready for bed.  Warren still isn’t sleeping real well so I need to sleep while I can.
