Update time

I haven’t updated in a while, so I thought I should. I even have a few mintues while Laura is sleeping. Last night we went up to the PICU at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis to visit some friends who’s son is up there. They seem to be hanging in there ok. It makes me so thankful that I have a healthy baby girl. Makes it hard to complain about much too. I am hoping we can get up there again to visit and take ice cream. :) The hard part is I have to find someone to watch Laura for us. She doesn’t need to be up there. I think I did pretty well last night leaving her for 4.5 hours. It wasn’t easy, but I survived. I didn’t even call to check on her.

She is smiling now. It sometimes takes a bit to get one out of her, but they are so worth it. I have captured a very cute one on the camera. I just need to get it posted in our photo gallery. As for the sleep, we are still working on it. I have gotten to the point where I have to just let her cry for a few minutes and then she settles down. Still better than having to rock her to sleep all the time.

Today was our second week of Baby & Me. I really enjoy having time to just chat with other moms about what is happening and get their advice. I would like to do the class again when Laura is just a little bit older. I think it would be good to get feedback for the stage she would be in then, plus I can share my experiences with other new moms. In addition, it gets me out of the house! :D Although once I start subbing, it might be a little more difficult to get out the same day every week. We’ll see what happens. I also don’t have to attend every week, so I’ll go the weeks I can.

Hammond Heartland Days are coming up next weekend. I entered Laura into the Baby Show. Every baby will win some prize/category. I think she should win the Cutest Baby overall, but then again I might be a little biased. ;)

I am heading to DeForest for a few days this month with Laura. Robert will stay here and work. I figure he can then get some good sleep at night and not worry about how late he is working. I have been pushing him to leave at 4:30 since Laura is usually fussy around that time and I am ready for some back up. Work is getting stressful for him, so I hope that with us gone he can just focus on that for a bit and not have us stressing him out too. The other reason for going is so my mom can see her. Laura is growing and changing so fast that we try to see each other every 3 weeks or so. We do take lots of pictures, but it just isn’t the same as seeing her in person and cuddling her.

I can’t think of much else to write at this time. I am going to just chill out this afternoon while she is napping. Perhaps I might get to read more of my book, “Just a Guy” by Bill Engvall. So far it is entertaining. Also my tummy is saying it wants food, so I should obey. So I’m off!
