Staying Afloat

I’m not ready. I don’t want to say goodbye. I haven’t had enough time with him. It can’t be real. I just got word today that my grandpa is getting worse. His kidneys have pretty much shut down. His breathing is becoming harder. He was in to get two transfusions over the weekend. The doctor said it was time to call Hospice and start making arrangements. I can’t do this. I…I…I don’t know. Isn’t one death a year enough? Much less two in two months? Guess the only thing to do now is wait.

   The only thing to do is wait indeed, but i must say that it is important that you say all you need to say to him before he does die, even if the only thing you want to say is “i love you.” This was my greatest regret when my grandparents died. I feel for ya, kid, hang in there.
