Week/Weekend update

This week has gone by fast. Wednesday my parents came up to visit for the day. They couldn’t believe how big Laura has gotten. I didn’t realize it until I printed out a picture of her from the day we brought her home and compared it to a picture I had taken just a week ago or so. Amazing. We ate dinner at church on Wed. night, but were slightly disappointed in it, so we ate again when we got home.

Thursday night I entered Laura into the baby show as a part of Hammond Heartland Days. She won the title of “Happiest Baby”. It probably helps that she was lounging in Robert’s arms drinking a bottle then passed out just laying back for the rest of it. There was a free dinner being served, so we stuck around for that. Our neighbor that is doing daycare for us was there so we joined them. Laura was getting hot and was tired so we came home to relax for the remainder of the evening. We got her in bed around 8. I had originally planned to get to bed early (9:00) to get a good night’s rest. Robert joined me, and we ended up talking for an hour. By then, we were both hungry again, so we got up and each had something small to eat.

Friday was our Baby & Me class again. After class we had lunch with Robert and then came back to Hammond. I decided I didn’t need to stop and visit people again. Hammond garage sales were going on, so I shopped around. I found some really cute 6-9 month outfits. I also picked up a baby gate so we don’t have to worry about our little girl taking a dive down the stairs. The cats just go through the spindles on the railing so I don’t have to worry about how they will get to the basement (littlerbox is down there). Laura amazed us and slept for 8 hours last night. It was wonderful! I am not going to hold my breath for this to become a regular habit just yet. Her naps were disrupted all day.

This morning started at 7 for her. We were in River Falls at 8 to help one of Robert’s co-workers move (who also happen to be Laura’s Godparents). They have all the big stuff out and into their new home now. I don’t feel like I did that much to help, but it was nice to be out and socializing with adults. Again, being out and about all day totally screwed up her naps. She only slept if I was holding her. Even then she didn’t sleep very well. She was VERY crabby when we got home. Thankfully, I was able to get her to calm down and sleeping now. I am hoping she will do a long stretch. She really needs it.

Plan for tomorrow is church at 10:30. I am hoping to be around the house as much as possible so Laura can get back into her routine. I can’t really call it a schedule quite yet since things don’t always happen at the same time.

Looking ahead, Laura has her 2 month appointment Wednesday morning. I am not looking forward to it because she will be getting 4 shots. I’ll make sure to have Tylenol on hand for her. Friday is Baby & Me. Our friends Liz and Corey will be coming to spend next weekend with us. Next Monday I take off for DeForest for the week. I’ll return on Friday, and then we are heading up to Duluth on Saturday. August is going by so fast! Time to finish up this post. I’m sure I’ll be on here rambling again soon.

So looking at our calendar, and taking into consideration Robert’s need to escape the area, how does September 21-24 look for you and your family? We would drive on Friday and Monday, so we would have all day Saturday and Sunday there.

    Sure
That could work! William will e-mail Robert this evening.

:-D Well you would always be welcome! I have a ton of baby clothes and right now all the stuff she has out grown is in the back of her closet. I could get rid of half of it and still have more then enough for a 2nd kid. Lizzie is already in some 2T so I have tons of 6-9 sleepers and onecies and outfits. It would give me a reason to go through it. Its no big deal to send you a box of clothes let me know what size you would want. I could also take some pictures and show you some of the stuff. A lot of it was used. I got some great deals on Ebay(blush).

You understand that ON AVERAGE, babies Laura’s age sleep for 5 hours during the night? It’s harsh when you have to accommodate your sleeping your sleeping habits to a non-adult. But, gee, we get to do that for another 18 years just for the one child! Luna now is generally asleep by 10. But her wake-up times have recently become too early – 630 and 7ish. Compared to a 2 month old, yeah it’s nice and long. But it’s still too damn early in the morning for us to be functional. So you do the best you can, and try now to fall down the stairs when it’s time for breakfast.

You do realize that some people routinely wake up at 6:30 (myself) and some much earlier than that, like 4:30 (my parents).

Yeah 6am is not early in our household either. But then we are all in bed by 10pm(Lizzie is mostly down by 6 or 7. I guess growing up on a dairy farm has given us a messed up view of early. LOL :-P
